Subject: can single men be an elder in the church |
Bible Note: Kalos Would that be a higher standard or a different standard? Consider a elder would have a closer relationship with individuals where an apostle would view congregations. Perhaps this was placed on elder to remove sexual involvement temptations. Consider also an elder would be asked to do family counseling where an apostle probably wouldn't. I will not say an elder can't be single man but if this passage does in fact rule them out it doesn't mean a higher standard but rather a different standard for a different office. EdB |
