Bible Question:
Hi, with this part of the paragraph area. The Lord says that when we seek God with all of our hearts and souls we will find him. Because I'm struggling with the need of finding him, and I've given my life to Jesus but I just don't feel connected. Could somone give me as much information in a practical 21st century way that which I could understand? Thank You, because I want to feel and get as close to God as possible and I'm not sure always how to do that. You'de think I would of already been showin the way since I gave my life to Jesus but it doesn't seem so. Guidence and direction need here. Thank you.. |
Bible Answer: Dear NightJay, First I'd encourage you to go back to the post written by Hank to you on this same subject (#170236). Read carefully his advice. I'm not sure what you mean by "connected." When I'm away from my wife I still love her as deeply as when she is near. I do not insist that I always feel "connected" to her to be a loving husband. Love has an emotional component, but it certainly isn't anywhere near the most important thing about love. Scriptural love is about doing. "For God so loved the world that He SENT His Only-Begotten Son..." The love that God asks us to have for Him is an all encompassing love that infiltrates every aspect of our being. We cannot stir that up, for it does not exist within us. Only He can do that. That is why I daily pray that God would cause me (note the word "cause" not "help," there's a difference!) to place a burning, all consuming love for Him in me. That it might grow to the point of overwhelming all that I am. Jay, there are no magic pills. There are no four steps to follow. There are no keys to successful living. One must pray and study. Fill your mind with the Word, reading it over and over. But if you are unwilling to sweat, son, no one can help you. (Matthew 10:38; 13:44) In Him, Doc |
