Subject: God being lonely? |
Bible Note: Angel - The genesis of this thread questioned the nature of God. "Is God lonely?" I commend you for recognizing human loneliness as a symptom of the need for God, but let's be careful when we consider His nature. IMO, your answer: "Lonely? Only in the sense that deep inside we, humanity, long for His companionship!", has the appearance of goodness -man is lonely for God therefore God is lonely (for man), but is this what the Bible says? Does our desire or longing for God make what we think true? (Thy Word is Truth) See Jer 23:28 Thinking that because we are made in His image does not elevate us to be the same - apart from what God has revealed to us about Himself, I believe it is dangerous to ascribe human characteristics to the Godhead Is 55:8-9. Apart from the mind of Christ, our thinking is human, fallen and flawed. Kalos wrote:'God did not lack anything in Himself that prompted His creative act. He wasn't lonely or bored. To say such a thing about Him would be to imply He is not eternally self-sufficient and perfect.' (www.carm.org/questions/whydidGodcreateus.htm) To me, this makes God's love for us even more amzaing!
