AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." |
Bible Question: how does God see me |
Bible Answer: Not from the outside but from the inside. Yes, God can see us physically, but unlike mankind in general, God looks beyond the physical appearance to peer right into our heart. In the scriptural account that follows, Samuel thought that God was going to select one of David's brothers as King Saul's successor. But, as you'll read, while men (even the spiritual man Samuel!) tend to focus on the exterior, God focuses on the heart: 1 Samuel 16:7 "But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
