AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Samuel 1:1 There was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, named Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. |
Bible Question: Is there a direct lineage between Samuel and Jesus? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Carol, Samuel's father, Elkanah, was a Levite by birth through the Kohathites in Ephraim (1 Chronicles 6:33-36). Samuel did have two sons, Joel and Abijah, (1 Sam. 8:1-2) but both are from the tribe of Levi, as Samuel is. Jesus is a descendant from the tribe of Judah (Matthew 1:1-2; Genesis 49:10). Therefore, there is not a "direct" lineage between Samuel and Jesus. Blessings to you, Makarios |
