Bible Question:
I understand that the Hebrew calendar consists of twelve 30-day months or 360 days. How does the Hebrew calendar adjust for the loss of 5.25 days each year or does it? Please answer only if you know the answer. Thank you in advance. Jim Estes |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, Jim, There is about an 11 day difference between twelve lunar months and one solar year. They use a Metonic 19-year cycle of 235 lunar months. An extra lunar month added once every 2 or 3 years, for a total of 7 times every 19 years. While the Bible has no direct reference to this added month, Nissan had always started only following the ripening of barley, at the end. Today it is Adar II.
