Bible Question:
Demons. Jesus dealt with Demons. Some say there are no more now in our church age. I say yes the demons are active and present to day. I have never, not once heard a sermon on "demons" in my 60 years as a Christ follower. Why are demons not brought out in sermons and how to make them leave? I an totally convinced by Scripture followers of Christ can only be oppressed, not possessed by Demons. So in what ways do Demons oppress Christians? can you give examples where you think someone was openly possessed by a demon. Clearly they could not be a Christian, so who would you think of? I would say Hitler would be one. |
Bible Answer: Justme Beja gave you an excellent answer to your question, however I would like to add a comment and offer an answer to your question how do demons oppress Christians. First my comment, other than what is mentioned in scripture we know very little about demons. Scripture show us that they are fully aware of God James 2:19. They respectfully answer God when asked a question. Luke 8. They do not know the future Luke 8 asking to be sent into the pigs who would then run off the cliff. And they know their destiny Matt 8:29. Much that is written about demonology comes from teaching of Islam. While I agree they probably know a lot about demons being a false religion, we also know from scripture 1Tim 4:1 demons are liars so what Islam says about demons should be taken with a large grain of salt. As to the question about demon oppression on Christians. First let me say I have no medical degree, nor do a I claim to be a mental health expert. I do believe demons can oppress Christians and they do it by causing depression. I believe when a Christian suffers depression they have taken their eyes off Jesus and are looking instead at what deceiving demons are showing them. I understand that there is clinical depression caused by chemical imbalances but I think many cases of both diagnosed and undiagnosed depression in Christians is nothing more than demon oppression that occurs when a believer takes their eyes off Jesus. I pray that saying this is not offensive to anyone. |
