Bible Question: Shalom, brothers and sisters. I have a question from a friend. Does the bible state that if you leave a church that you could carry a curse with you, if you leave with bad feelings? If so where? Peace be with you, michael. |
Bible Answer: Michael :: I know of no such biblical "curse" being levied against anyone who absents himself from a local church. The "bad feelings" about which you spoke may be entirely justified. As a case in point, a decade or so ago my wife and I severed attendance and fellowship with a church of which we'd been members for a quarter century. We left with not so much "bad feelings" as "sad feelings." We were then, and are still, saddened by that church's apostasy and by God's grace found another church where His word is honored, His Son exalted, and His gospel preached in its purity and fullness. We hold no animus against the members of the apostate church we left, but pray for them that God will restore them and bring them back to orthodoxy. ..... I believe you'd need to define more precisely and in somewhat more detail what you mean by "bad feelings" in order to elicit a more specific and meaningful response. --Hank |
