Bible Question: Why do we not teach the new testimony with the references from the old scripture so that people can understand what it means of us and not be afraid of what things were before Jesus died for us.. How do you teach to look for the cross and what is really meant. How do you teach forgiveness is done and is finished. How do we teach this? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Patricia... Welcome to the forum! Those questions cover a lot of ground. We do teach this in my church; other churches do as well. Richard Fuller (1804-1876) wrote, "On every page of the Bible I behold nothing but the cross, and its amazing retinue of suffering and glory. For me, patriarch and prophet and apostle all utter one voice, all point to Calvary, and cry, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world! As a minister, as a sinner, I have no theme, no hope, but Christ Jesus and Him crucified. On Him and Him alone, on the redundant merit of His atonement, my soul leans with a recumbency, a confidence, a delight unspeakable and full of glory." (cf John 5:39b; Hebrews 1:1-2; 1 Peter 1:10-11; etc.) In Him, Doc |
