Question (full): Prayer request from a friend: "Gwen is a CDH baby. Her diaphragm did not close properly and her intestines and stomach are in her chest cavity, impeded proper development of heart and lungs. One lung was developed fine but it has collapsed twice (the other lung is virtually useless). The machine she is on (in a specialty hospital 300 miles away from us [her grandparents]) was beating her heart, breathing for her and circulating her blood, taking out the used blood, removing the carbon dioxide, oxygenating it and warming it and recirculating it. This began when she was born 6/25/11. These babies only have a 50/50 chance of survival. Today, she is beating her own heart and she is down to 70 percent O2. but she still needs to gain strength to survive corrective surgery." Thank you. |
