Bible Question:
A fellow Christian Book store employee ttold me he was told the TNIV has stopped production due to dismal sales. That the revised NIV to be out in 2011 will be a blending of the TNIV and NIV. Has anyone had more factual word on this? Personally I (along with our dear brother Hank and many others who of you previewed found the TNIV) think the TNIV was at best a serious mistake. So no great loss to dump the TNIV. Perhaps the revision of the NIV will have the same mistakes as the TNIV. Has anyone gathered any information an either the TNIV or the revised NIV? Thanks, justme |
Bible Answer: Hello justme, Well then, I probably own one of the few copies known to exist! Maybe It'll gain in value when it's officially out of print:-) In all seriousness, as I've mentioned before, since purchasing my reference copy some 5-plus years ago, I was never able to find one on the shelf at local Christian Book stores! Apparently- and thankfully- it never caught on and sold! Dismal sales is probably just reward for a "dismal translation". I call it "dumbing people down" and I'm not a proponent of that. Now, the ESV on the other hand is a well-produced translation that does justice to the original languages. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
