Bible Question: scripture states yhat we were baptised into moses explain and was it considered wet or dry |
Bible Answer: 1CO 10:1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all [pas, all or every]under the cloud, and all [pas, all or every] passed through the sea; 10:2 and all [pas, all or every] were baptized [dip or sink] into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 10:3 and all pas, all or every] ate the same spiritual food; 10:4 and all [pas, all or every] drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. I must confess I have not seen this passage before although I have read 1 Corinthians many times and my trusty electronic concordance was unable to pull it out. This is one of the reasons I enjoy viewing this Forum. The original question was, “scripture states that we were baptized into Moses explain and was it considered wet or dry.” I believe the answer is in the text above. Some date the Exodus including Moses around 1444 BC, most of the Christians in both Saul called Paul’s time and ours did not pass under the cloud or thru the sea in a literal sense. Therefore it must be a spiritual or dry baptism. This is stated concretely in verse 10:4. On 2/29/2004 the following was posted in this Forum regarding 1 Cor 10:2… Subject: Baptism a warning about overconfidence Note: xxx, I won't explain. But your response is exactly what I hoped to get from all parties to the baptism controversies here on the forum. More thinking, less posting would be good. Emmaus Blessings, I hope I answered your question on wet or dry. |
