Bible Question: In Luke 12:33, Jesus said to sell what we have and give alms. Does anyone know the meaning of this? |
Bible Answer: Luke 12:15 Then He said to them, "Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions." The subject is money. The amount is more than is needed. The warning is not to let money become our god. We cannot serve God and money. How do we avoid this natural tendency toward greed? Giving to those in need. There are also verses that say we are to owe no man anything so we would not sell all we have because that would make us indebted to others. We are to be responsible with our resources. Not greedy and hording an abundance. |
