Bible Question: does the bible give any references to whether a christian could or should receive social security disability? |
Bible Answer: favorwithGod: To my knowledge the Bible is silent on the subject of Social Security disability. This is a civil issue per se, not a theological issue. If a Christian is covered by Social Security and meets the administration's criteria for disability, I see no religious, moral or legal reason why he could not or should not receive whatever compensation he is entitled to. ..... If, on the other hand, he became party to a fraudulent scheme to receive compensation to which he was not legally entitled, that would be quite wrong. It would involve the breaking of two of the Ten Commandments: The eighth by stealing, and the ninth by lying. ....... Your question is interesting and unusual. May I ask what prompted it? --Hank |
