Subject: Order of occurance |
Bible Note: By the way, if anyone is interested, the theological term for what we are discussing is the latin "ordo salutis;" i.e., the order of salvation. I did some research and here is what I found: In the Reformed Camp: 1) election, 2) predestination, 3) gospel call 4) inward call 5) regeneration, 6) conversion (faith and repentance), 7) justification, 8) sanctification, and 9) glorification. In the Arminian camp: 1) outward call 2) faith/election, 3) repentance, 4) regeneration, 5) justification, 6) perseverance, 7) glorification. Note in the former ordo salutis that spiritual life is a prerequisite for existence of the other aspects of salvation. The latter camp they hold that the natural man retains some moral capacity to receive or reject the gospel on his own power. There's my two farthings worth. |
