Bible Note: Greetings New Creature! Sorry that it took me so long to respond! I have been very busy this week! :-) The word used in John 3:3 is 'eidon'. I do not believe that this verse refers to actually 'seeing' the Kingdom, but experiencing the Kingdom. This word is used in this sense many times in the NT. For instance: 1 Pet. 3:10 - "For, 'Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.'" Luke 2:21 - "And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ." See also Heb. 11:5. Rev. 18:7 - "To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.'" Acts 2:14 - "Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay." Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
