Bible Question:
I'm looking for a study bible... Can anyone help me find a study bible that has non-calvinistic, non-dispensational notes? I have just about all of the most popular study bibles (NIV, Ryrie, Oxford, etc.) but I am looking for something to compare with these others. If anyone can be of help I would appreciate it! Ischus |
Bible Answer: I recommend the NRSV HARPER STUDY BIBLE: Expanded and Updated, study helps written by Harold Lindsell, Zondervan, 1991 (ISBN: 0310902037). (Available at Amazon.com) (Note: it is NOT the HarperCollins Study Bible that I recommend. That is an entirely different book.) I have enjoyed this study Bible for years and would recommend it to anyone. It contains study notes from a conservative, evangelical perspective. The study notes were edited by the late Dr. Harold Lindsell, an evangelical theologian known for his defense of biblical inerrancy. I see you already have the NIV Study Bible. This is one of the most denominationally neutral study Bibles I've seen. It seems to me the study notes are well-balanced, not pushing teachings from any particular denominational perspective. Finally, I recommend the online article, HOW TO CHOOSE A STUDY BIBLE by John R. Kohlenberger III at (www.equip.org/free/DB135.htm). |
