Subject: Did Jesus have to die? |
Bible Note: Hi Hank, The words, it is finished, in the Koine Greek, John 19:30, come to us from the word TELEO. It was a word that was coined in the slave markets in the times before Christ. When a slave was put on the auction block the highest bidder would pay the price for the slave and as soon as the price was paid they would say TELEO, which sealed or completed the deal. Isn’t it interesting that Christ paid the price for us and liberated us from the slave market of sin and the transaction is complete? Hebrews 10:9-10 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Have a great day Hank, CDBJ |
