Subject: Why don't we address God as Yahweh? |
Bible Note: Greetings Ray! 'Shem' is used in Is. 57:15 and in Ex. 34:14. As for Luke 1:49, there are two ways in which adjectives can be used in Greek. The first is called the attributive position. In Greek, it would read either 'the holy name' or 'the name the holy'. This would be similar to our use of adjectives, where a 'quality' is being attributed to a noun. The second use is the predicate position. It would read 'the name holy' or 'holy the name'. This would be translated as ' The name is holy'. This is the case is Luke 1:45. I just found the Ex. 34:14 verse while doing my daily reading and I thought it was interesting. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
