NASB | Judges 8:27 Gideon made it into an ephod, and placed it in his city, Ophrah, and all Israel played the harlot with it there, so that it became a snare to Gideon and his household. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Judges 8:27 Gideon made [all the golden earrings into] an ephod [a sacred, high priest's garment], and put it in his city of Ophrah, and all Israel worshiped it as an idol there, and it became a trap for Gideon and his household. |
Subject: Did he make the ephod to be worshiped? |
Bible Note: It doesn't say that he made it be worshiped but that is what happed. My bible (NIV) says “Gideon Made the gold into an ephod, which he placed in Ophrah, his town. All Israel prostituted themselves by worshiping it there, and it became a snare to Gideon and his family.” Judges 8:27 My question was: Was Gideon wrong to make it or was the blame all on Israel for worshiping it? |
