Bible Note: Hello Mark, You are correct in mentioning this. My take on the situation was that Jephthah sacrificed his duaghter without the priest present. I say this for a two reasons. First, Jephthah was made an outcast because of his parentage and would not have known all the parts of the law. Basically, he was a scoundrel all his days. Second, verses 39-40 says that he did what he intended, and there were mourners ever since. Steve |
