Bible Question:
A wife of a member in our church went and was married to another man.The first husband followed and with the help of elders, managed to have her returned to her parents home. Hower, despite the leniency of the man on the matter, this woman has refused to come back to him. Can he remarry for he is in dilema. He is so young and can burn with the desire you know. Please advise. charles. omangamobisa@yahoo.com |
Bible Answer: John 20:23 If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained. Matt 18:32-35 "Then summoning him, his lord *said to him, 'You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?' And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. "My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart." Matthew 19:9 And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication, and marries another woman commits adultery. It would be my opinion based on the scriptures provided that it will be okay for him to remarry. If she has left him for another man, then he is not bound to her and can "put her away," albeit involuntarily on his part if he wants her back. I would advise that he be forgiving, however hurtful the situation. But I would conclude from scripture that he can remarry unless the information you gave is not correct. Ancient |
