Bible Note: What Hebrews 6:4-6 makes clear to me is that one can taste the gifts of God and yet still not have a saving faith. The people that Jesus is speaking of in Matthew 7 are those who claim to have cast out demons and performed miracles in the name of the Lord. I think the main idea of a miracle is that they are performed by God for his purpose, not by us in His name. So I think the people in verses 21-23 are the same as the false prophets from verse 15. These are people who profess to be saved and yet are not acting with humble faith and obedience. |
