Bible Question: Could Jesus been a good and devout Jew seeking to reform the Jewish religion but ended up founding a new religion? |
Bible Answer: I would say that Jesus was a very threat to the Jewish religious establishment, not because he was harsh with them in the many challenges he put before them, but just because He was just saying the truth, and when the truth is affirmed with force with no compromise, it is always that kind of things that produce. But He did not come to found a new religion per se, but He was there, as He said to Pilate: " I have come to bear witness to the truth...". Now, the truth has a tremendous power. But definitely, it was not to establish another religion, but to reveal with the truth the wonder of the true relationship we should have with the Father. Christianity is not a matter of religion, but of relation. |
