Bible Question:
What is the purpose of a burnt offering? What were the people required to do or bring? |
Bible Answer: If it was known by Abel, and Cain that the Lord God is Spirit and not flesh and He is in Heaven which is not of earth, then how would they give something of earth into Heaven? And this was of value, considering the Lord God showed that He had respect for one and not the other. For what is valued here with Abel? Wouldn’t it be to have God’s ear, and favor, that He would even look to any man for any reason that is of God’s favor? Also note that God made it known that He heard the blood of Abel cry out to Him from the ground, so if one sot after that relationship that God would hear you even when one dies, they would do the same as Abel. Hence back in the day, it was the way to maintain that relationship, in the Presence of God in the Tabernacle. Needless to say from Abel to Noah to Abraham to Moses it was establish as the way to request of God, until the Lord Jesus came into the world. Whether it be thanksgiving, or atonement, and others mentioned in the Torah. There is a lot more to it then described here, but you would have to read it for yourself. |
