Bible Question:
Where can I find in the Bible where Israel is represented as a woman? I am concerned about the woman in Rev12:1, I believe the woman is the nation of Israel and am interested in using Scripture to find who she is. Thank you and God Bless, Tim |
Bible Answer: Tim 3:16 Throughout the Old testament Israel is alludesd to or compared to a woman in relation to God and not always a good woman. For example Hosea's problems with a harlot wife are used by God to show how Isreal, His wife, acts toward Him. You may want also to look at passages in the Bible referring "daughter Zion" and "daughter Jerusalem." The woman in Revelation 12 can be seen on three levels; as the personification of Isreal from whom the Savior came in the broad sense; as Mary from whom the Savior came in the specific sense and the Church, the new Israel whose children (Rev. 12:17) make up the body of Christ, which Satan is always attacking. You may wish to look at Genesis 37:9; Gen 3:16; Micah 4;9-10; Isaiah 66:7; Psalm 2:9. Emmaus |
