Subject: In context change literal to figurative? |
Bible Note: To me Steve, it makes some sense. Usually if someone wants to get an important point across to another, a "picture story" works wonders in getting the other person to understand the main objective. Using something that a person can identify with is usually quite effective. In this case, if there is anything in your life that is causing you to sin, get rid of it so you won't spend eternity in hell. And as you know Jesus did not literally mean cut off your hand or pluck out your eye, but His objective was to have people understand the importance of "putting to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry."
