Bible Question: The Bible mentions a place called Hades. Is Hades Hell? |
Bible Answer: I know this is kinda late, but it is for anybody else that looks at this after me. Hades (Hebrew: Sheol) is a resting place for the souls of the damned before the final judgment. Their bodies stay dead until then, and after they are raised from the dead and judged, both their body and soul is thrown in to the lake of fire (Hell) together. On a similar note, once a believer dies his body remains dead but his soul goes to heaven. Christ told the thief on the cross that "Today you will be with me in Paradise." At the second coming of Christ, our bodies will be resurrected and glorified. After the judgment we will live with Christ forever in the New Heaven and Earth. So when a person dies, his body sleeps until Judgment Day. An unsaved person will go to Hades to await his coming judgment, and a believer will go to heaven to await the resurrection. -reformed777 |
