Bible Question: I was just reading a poem which sited a verse from a book of the Bible I have never heard of. Do you know anything about a book of the Bible named SIRACH? The verse it referred to was 6:14.I am stumped! |
Bible Answer: Dear churchlady, Greetings in the name of Jesus! As our good brother Emmaus has told you, this is a book of Apocrypha (meaning secret or obscure), and not in the Hebrew canon. It is included in the Catholic Bible, but not recognized by most non-Catholic groups. You can find the Apocrypha on a free computer software called e-Sword (www.e-sword.net) in the KJVA and RSVA versions. The verse you referred to is: "A faithful friend is a strong defence: and he that hath found such an one hath found a treasure." Sirach 6:14 KJVA Though not generally recognized as Scriprure, the poetry is beautiful! In Christ Jesus, charis |
