Bible Question: I just received a Thompson Chain Reference NAS Bible that I ordered. I assumed it was the updated 1995 NASB, but it is the 1977 version. What is the difference between the two? Did I just buy something that is already out of date? |
Bible Answer: Gould55: Book stores, especially Christian bookstores have about 4 percent profit margin. When they order some Bible it may sit for sometime before it is sold. There is a likely posibility that the update came out a good time after yours was printed. I am not sure, but I have not seen a Thompson Chain Reference NASB updated version yet. Perhaps Thompson has not yet printed it. I had a simular thing with the Indepth Study Bible in NASB. I got the old thee and Thou one. I was very unhappy. I buy only genuine leather as they are made to last a lifetime. So my ignorance it cost me about 80 dollars. I did get the NASB Study Bible Updated by Zondervan, and I am very pleased! So it is buyer beware. If you have not marked in it you might take it back to the store, and see what they are willing to do. Perhaps even if you have marked in it, if the Bookstore knows you were not fully informed they might out of good will make some adjustment. For me the difference was so much I gave the older translation away. My are we not blessed that we can buy things that some people will never have a chance to own. God Bless. agape, justme |
