Bible Question: Is it right to use the word "Trinity"? The dictionary definition implies equality between God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. Even the Bible doesn't use the word Trinity. I've had this question thrown at me from different directions and would value your opinion. My understanding is that God is the head, Jesus is His Son and then the Holy Spirit. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Lakespur! It most certainly is right and correct to use the word "Trinity"! The Biblical doctrine of the Trinity can be found throughout the New Testament, specifically: Matt. 3:16, Matt. 28:19, Luke 3:22, John 3:34-35, John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:7, John 16:13-15, Acts 1:2, 1:4-5, Acts 2:33, Acts 10:36-38, Romans 1:3-4, 8:9-11, 8:26-27, 1 Cor. 12:3-6, 2 Cor. 1:21-22, 2 Cor. 5:5, 2 Cor. 13:14, Galatians 4:4,6, 2 Thess. 2:13-14, 2 Thess. 2:16, 1 Tim. 3:16, Titus 3:4-6, Hebrews 9:14, 1 Peter 1:2, 1 Peter 3:18, 1 John 5:6-7 After reading all of those verses, you can plainly see what the Bible, the ultimate authority, says about the Godhead and the Trinity.
