Bible Question: Jesus talked much about qualifications for entering his kingdom. For example, He said, "Unless we become as little children, you cannot enter"; "It is harder for a rich person to enter the kingdom than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle", etc. My question is, "Is the Kingdom of God a spiritual Kingdom, one that is viewed or experienced vith Spiritual Eyes only, not a physical kingdom? Or is Kingdom living primarily about an attitude of the heart? |
Bible Answer: Dweaver The Kingdom of God is now spiritual, in that the only way we can enter through Jesus Christ is spiritually. However when Jesus returns he will set up a physical kingdom in which we (those that died in Christ Jesus and those remaining) will reign with Him in our immortal bodies. You used the term Kingdom Living and to me that is associated with the teaching that once we are in Christ everything will be rosy for the believer. Nothing can be further from the truth. We are still in the world and like so many before us we have to go through things. Some of the things we encounter make us grow, others bring chastisement and correction into our walk, some are just the results of living in a fallen world, and still others come from persecution. However in all thing this we can be sure Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. The teaching that everything will be rosy completely ignores the life of the early church, the life of the apostles, and church history for the last 2000 years. There are strong, faithful, totally committed, and righteous Christians going through all kinds of trials and persecution today. If God made everything rosy and gave us everything we wanted we would quickly become useless spoiled brats. However through it all we know we have the victory because Jesus has told us He would never leave us nor forsake us. We are His bought and paid for with a price, and one day soon (I hope) He is going to return for us and take us home. EdB |
