Bible Question:
New Testament Anti-semitic I am bumping up against those who would argue that the New Testament has been instrumental in inciting historical figures in the church to spread anti-semitic propaganda and engage in anti-semitic atrocities. Does anyone have any good apologetic material refuting this assertion? |
Bible Answer: Another great resource is The Case for Christ by Lee Stroebel. There is a very passionate story in that book about a Jewish man who felt the same way about the NT- that it was anti-Semetic. He had "tried" every religion out there- Buddhism, Atheism, etc. It wasn't until a Christian evangelist said- don't read the NT to find out about Christ. Just read the OT and see what it says about who Christ is. Well, he did and he was confronted. Even as little as he knew about Christ at the time, he knew there was more to the story than he had been spoon-fed. So he started reading the Gospel (though he felt at first like he was doing something he shouldn't) and was again convicted of the inherrent Jewishness of Jesus and the apostles and soon came to faith in Christ. It is an amazing testimony! |
