Bible Question: What if you are engaged to someone who wants to find a church home as a couple (one)? |
Bible Answer: Dear Child of God, Greetings in Jesus' name! The answers you have received are good, and all reflect the need to come to a decision before the wedding. I agree with this! One question that has not been asked is, "Who will perform the wedding ceremony?" I am sure that this is closely tied to your original question, right? Though it is the two of you getting married, the shepherd that presides over the exchange of covenant vows is responsible for the health and well-being of the new family. I understand that this responsibility is seriously under-played in this day of personal freedom and privacy, but I am old-fashioned, and believe that God requires ministers to be more than administrators of (dubious) vows. So, the answer to your question is which shepherd do you put your (soon to be) combined spiritual trust in? As was said earlier, I think that the male half of this eternal partnership should be responsible to make the final decision, as God will require it of him, not her. :-) Blessings and love to you, together in Christ Jesus, charis |
