Bible Note: Greetings Steve! The Romans, at least by the time of Paul, used a Julian Calendar. The differences between the two systems are not that great. The Hebrew calendar was based upon lunar observations, while the Julian calendar was based upon solar calculations. There was a major diffence in how a day was determined. The Jews went from sunset to sunset, while the Romans went from sunrise to sunrise. Here is a link for a website which tells about the history of calendars: http://astro.nmsu.edu/(TILDE)lhuber/leaphist.html Note: Replace (TILDE) with the tilde symbol!
