Bible Question (short): Jesus or Immanuel |
Question (full): This verse Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 But Jesus name is not Immanuel. I have asked this question before and someone told me that you go by the meaning of Immanuel not the name itself. Is there a book that is easy to read that will allow me to understand the historical background of Hebrew scripture and history. To me this goes beyond Bible interpretation. Because if any new Christian reads the Bible would say Isaiah mentions Immanuel? I have been told there is historical evidence that Jesus existed, but I have never really searched for it myself. People are asking me this questions, how do I respond, if I have never researched it myself. |
