AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 21:3 and then I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "See! The tabernacle of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them [as their God,] [Lev 26:11, 12; Ezek 37:27; John 1:14; 1 Cor 3:16, 17] |
Bible Question:
This verse Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 But Jesus name is not Immanuel. I have asked this question before and someone told me that you go by the meaning of Immanuel not the name itself. Is there a book that is easy to read that will allow me to understand the historical background of Hebrew scripture and history. To me this goes beyond Bible interpretation. Because if any new Christian reads the Bible would say Isaiah mentions Immanuel? I have been told there is historical evidence that Jesus existed, but I have never really searched for it myself. People are asking me this questions, how do I respond, if I have never researched it myself. |
Bible Answer: Personally I like the book, "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. It is a good easy read that delves into most areas of dispute that seekers have. It is not so deep and scholorly as to turn people off from the detail. Lee Strobel did not believe in Jesus until his wife came to the Lord and changed her life. Lee set out to disprove the facts of the Bible, only to become one of the pastors of Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago. MJH |
