Bible Question:
I recently had a discussion regarding the rapture of the church during a bible study (not specifically about that), however the individual leading the bible study which I trust does not understand scripture to support a pre-trib rapture of the church and that a pre-trib rapture is more of a north american belief due to the bias influence of dispensationalism as with schofield, however we agreed that we should be ready as if the Lord is coming today and really the rapture is not a primary concern as our salvation is. Although much debated, It seems that more people do believe in a pre-trib rapture, versus the later, and I admit I don't fully understand it and believe that perhaps the Lord has done this on purpose. I want to study this more in depth to gain a solid understanding if the Lord allows, and would like to know from those of you who have studied this scripture intently what your thoughts are. Thank you in advance! C.S. |
Bible Answer: Greetings, I have been a Christian for well over 40 years now since I trusted in the finished work of Christ, and up until about 15 years ago I have been a staunch believe in the pretribulation position although there have been many questions that didn’t quite add up. I came across a book called, “The Rapture Question Answered” by Robert Van Kampen, ISBN 0-8007-5631-2, who shortly after writing the Book went home to be with the Lord as though his job here on earth was finished. His book couples all of the different assumptions that believers have concerning, what we call the rapture, and he causes all of them to fit into a very plausible outcome. This is the only book that I have read on eschatology that has answered the basic problems that I have found in my favorite subject in the Bible, future events. I have read countless books on the subject and this is the only one that has tied everything together. It’s actually an offshoot of his first book called, “The Sign” which is quite lengthy but very informative for one who is an ardent student of eschatology and who likes to study and dig out truth. There are no contradictions in God’s Word and until one finds the answers that cause all of scripture to fit, together in harmony they have not found truth. If in reading this book one “skips around”, they will not understand the truth it contains! I would consider it a must read for all believers, especially in the day and age that we find ourselves in!
