NASB | Revelation 17:8 ¶ "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 17:8 ¶ "The beast that you saw was [once], but [now] is not, and he is about to come up out of the abyss (the bottomless pit, the dwelling place of demons) and go to destruction (perdition). And the inhabitants of the earth, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, will be astonished when they see the beast, because he was and is not and is yet to come [to earth]. Bible Question (short): All names still in the book of life? |
Question (full): JVH0212, According to Rev. 17:8, this would indicate either all humans or some humans were written into the book of life before the creation of the universe. I have a couple of questions for this forum to think about. If Rev. 17:8 is true as it is written and if all humans were written into the book of life: 1) why then are all humans born under the condemnation of sin and predestined to the lake of fire for eternity which is the opposite of life? 2) why then do only some humans actually end up in the book of life?
