Bible Question:
Matt 24:15 "Therefore WHEN you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), You said ... If your "sources dare to suggest" that Jesus was referring to the Dan 11 and 12 portions - it's past time to exchange that erroneous material for qualified truth. I have not checked any experts, yet. But, if you want to take away (pick and choose what you want) from Scripture, so be it. Well ... it is the same the false Christs and prophets have done and will do. You and your sources have no basis to exclude part of what Daniel said. But, let us see what the Bible says: Dan 9:27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate." ... Do you see "abomination of desolation" in this passage which you have used ... or does it say "wing of abominations". Choose one. Dan 11:31 "Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation." ... Do you see "abomination of desolation" in this passage which you don't want? Yes or no - choose one. ... What does the context say? Dan 12:11 "From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days." ... Do you see "abomination of desolation" in this passage which you don't want? Yes or no - choose one. ... What does the context say? You ask ... Where do you get the wild idea Jesus was talking about "1290 days and the 1335 days as future"? Jesus said "WHEN" He was pointing forward, not to the past. If you think otherwise, you need to study the Greek and maybe even English. Hotan is the word for when ... Apo is the word for since, that I think He would have used. The word "WHEN" is key ... if He was pointing back, He would have said "SINCE". A partially fulfilled prophecy is not fulfilled. If I would to say someone is coming in 15 days to preach and sing "Blue Suede Shoes" and wearing them ... if someone came in 11 days to preach and sang "Blue Suede Shoes" and wearing them ... what I said hasn't been fulfilled. ... if someone came in 15 days to and sang "Blue Suede Shoes" and wearing them ... what I said hasn't been fulfilled. ... SINCE this verse was only partially fulfilled, I am waiting for WHEN it is completely fulfilled. You have questions to answer ... In Dan 9:27, do you see "abomination of desolation" ... or does it say "wing of abominations". Choose one. ... In Dan 11:31, do you see "abomination of desolation" in this passage? Yes or no - choose one. ... What does the context say? ... In Dan 12:11, do you see "abomination of desolation" in this passage? Yes or no - choose one. ... What does the context say? ... Who gave you the authority to pick and choose which parts of the prophecy of Daniel? |
Bible Answer: Searcher, wow, you sound like you are ready to burst a blood vessel. Perhaps I should have asked which English Bible translation I am “supposed” to use. My mistake was not quoting one that you use. For that I apologize. I’m grateful I didn’t use one of my many because that would have really confused you. For a small example: Berkley says, “On a wing of horrors shall a desolator come.” The Jerusalem Bible says, “On the wing of the temple will be the disastrous abomination.” King James says, “The spreading of abominations he shall make desolate.” New American says, “On the temple wing shall be the horrible abomination.” The Authorized says, “For the overspreading of abominations he shall make desolate.” New King James says, “On the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate.” New International Version says, “And on the wing, of the temple, he shall set up an abomination that causes desolation.” An American Translation says, “While in their place there shall be a desolating abomination.” The Literal Translation says, “And on the corner of the altar, desolating abominations.” The Hebrew Translation says, “Upon a wing as abominations a desolator even until the end.” There are others with "different" renderings, but I figured these should be sufficient. :) I was wondering about one of your questions. I copied it here for you. “Who gave you the authority to pick and choose which parts of the prophecy of Daniel?” I’m sorry, Searcher; who are you asking this question, ALL of the different translators of the few Bibles I quoted from, or who? One interesting note that you should be happy to notice is the word “WING” used in the above Scriptures. Which Strong’s 3671 do you feel “fits” best? The one in 1 Samuel 24:4, 5,11 where it talks about the CORNER (3671) of Saul’s robe, or 2 Kings 8:6 where it talks about the WINGS (3671) of the cherubims, or perhaps the one in Job 37:3 where it mentions the ENDS (3671) of the earth? Fascinating, isn’t it, the fact that the Romans used an EAGLE as their symbol. The fact that the Roman Army had EAGLE bearers. The fact that the 3-D WINGS of the eagle were on many of their shields. Check out the web site on Roman Army Eagles. They even have pictures. I found it especially interesting to read what so many commentaries mentioned about this portion of Daniel, and how the same commentaries match Matthew 24:15 WITH Daniel 9:27. I located a number of these commentaries on Crosswalk.com. What makes it especially interesting is the FACT that EVERY author from the first century till the middle of 1800's agree. After Darby and others like him got a hold of a 15-year-olds dream - writings changed to what they are today. Hum. Respectfully, Taleb P.S. About that "when" instead of "Since", seeing A.D.70 WAS about 40 years into the FUTURE - Jesus choice of the word "WHEN" FIT PERFECTLY. Amen? |
