NASB | Jude 1:9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil (Satan), and arguing about the body of Moses, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him, but [simply] said, "The Lord rebuke you!" [Deut 34:5, 6; Zech 3:2] |
Bible Question:
This is a question about rebuking the devil, whether I ought to do so out loud or if I can do so in my mind. Someone told me that Satan cannot read our thoughts. Since it cannot read our thoughts, if I rebuke it in my mind, it does not hear the rebuke or even know that I did rebuke it in the name of Jesus. A related question, is this: Can the devil get into my mind? |
Bible Answer: Mt 12:43. But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and findeth it not. 44. Then he saith, I will return into my house whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this evil generation. The "house" is the person who refused to believe in "the sign of Jonah", Mt 12; Mt 16; Lk 11-12. |
