NASB | Jude 1:9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil (Satan), and arguing about the body of Moses, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him, but [simply] said, "The Lord rebuke you!" [Deut 34:5, 6; Zech 3:2] |
Bible Question:
EdB, You are right about the danger of them idolizing his tomb. They had, after all, idolized the bronze serpent that God had Moses to set up. By the way, could this scripture be related? Zechariah 3 1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2And the LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?" It just sounds very simular to Jude 1:9. Pastor Glenn |
Bible Answer: Pastor Glenn I think what the Bible is showing us in Jude 1:9, Zech 3 and 2 Pet 2:10-14 are the ways we are to deal with Satan. I think what is being taught as "spiritual warfare" where people yell, rant and rave calling Satan names is a travesty. EdB |
