Bible Question:
In a different post, there was a suggestion that orthodox christianity does not agree with the Faith movement about becoming prosperous. I am not a member of the Faith movement or know very much about it. However considering 3 John 1:2, it is very unlikely the being prosperous is a bad thing. I did not want to continue the earlier post as it was already very long and hotly contested and my question has very little to do with the original topic under discussion. Is there any scripture which advises against being prosperous? I have met a lot of Christians who believe that it is not good to be rich. Are there any scriptures to support that or is that a prejudice born out of their own financial state? God bless U. GeeVee |
Bible Answer: TO Prosper financially is not a bad thing, but we shouldnt count it as Christian, or un Christian. God gifts in many different ways. The Bible in the New Testament Exhorts us to Prosper, as in store our Treasure in Heaven where moth and rust do not corrupt. Generally if some one is seeking financial wealth, there focus is wrong. The Mormon Church is very wealthy, however that doesnt mean that God is blessing them. With the same frame of mind, many missionaries are very poor financially. Why orhodox Christianity doesnt accept the word of Faith movement,is that they claim that their faith is a force, and that you can speak something into exsistence. Rather than having faith in Christ,His finished work on the cross. Have a Word of faith Teacher put on an island with nothing, and see where they are at Two weeks later. Are you asking what does prosper mean? In Greek 2137, this means that He would arrive healthy to His destination, as in, we hope you succeed in your Journey. Not that he would gain financial wealth. rcscroll@aol.com IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE GET BACK.WE HOPE THAT THIS IS THE ANSWER YOU NEEDED. LOVE IN CHRIST JESUS. |
