AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:4 Whoever says, "I have come to know Him," but does not habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings), is a liar, and the truth [of the divine word] is not in him. |
Bible Question: How do these passages relate 1 John 2:4 and Mark 16:16. |
Bible Answer: "And this is His commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. Those who obey God's commandments live in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us." 1 John3:23-24. When I asked Jesus Christ to be my personal Savior from sin,I was "born again" or regenerated by the BAPTISM of HOLY SPIRIT (see Titus 3:5). I have obeyed God's command to believe in the name of Jesus. It is ALL from Him and through His Grace that I am saved. "And Jesus Christ was revealed as God's Son by HIS baptism in water and by shedding HIS blood on the cross - not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit also gives us the testimoney that this is true. So we have these three witnesses - the Spirit, the water and the blood - and all three agree." 1 John 5:6-8 (EMPHASIS, mine) "And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life and this life is in HIS Son. So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life." 1 John 5:11-12 (EMPHASIS, mine) I have been obedient to God's command. I believe in the testimony that God has provided. I have believed and I have been baptized into His name by the Holy Spirit. As an outward expression of my belief and a desire to follow the example set my Jesus, I too have entered the waters of baptism, but NEVER would I entrust my SALVATION to bathwater! I KNOW WHOM I have believed, and am persuaded that HE is able to keep that what I have committed unto Him against that day! (2 Tim 1:12) |
