NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |

Bible Note: Greetings John! Believe me, I'm very familiar with all the arguments you make! We just see things differently. Rom. 1-3 shows that all men are lost under the Law, but since Christ things have changed. For instance, now John 12:32, " But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.”" Combine this with all of the passages that speak of Christ dying for the world, desiring all to be saved, whosoever will, ect..., and one can make the case from Scripture that God did not just elect some, but offers salvation freely to all, and draws all, and intends to have mercy on all. I too believe in God's absolure rle over His creation, but I take shelter in His love which if offered to all! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
