Subject: How Does Baptism Save? |
Bible Note: Dear BradK I'm not familiar with Dr. Kenneth Wuest. What is he a doctor of? Do you allow that any Scripture specifically commands water baptism? All of this commentary I'm sure has a purpose, but I much prefer to see Scripture. The "'baptism' is the reality, water is merely symbolic' statement has me puzzled. How come it is that the Scripture time and again demonstrates that the outward and the inward happen at the same time, but the human commentary always separates them? Why is it that Paul says we are united with Christ in baptism, but it always gets explained with a time difference? If God says he saves by grace at baptism, then why can't that be His prerogative? I thought the clay shouldn't answer back to the Potter? Colossians 2:12 says 'in baptism' we are bured with Christ, and 'in which you are raised by faith in the working of God.' Just as middleton stated, John 3:3-5 shows the water and the spirit. Titus 3:5 shows the same convergence. Through the simple, and otherwise pointless, act of faith, God cleanses man on the inside. You see, because I obey this, I know when God saved me. I trust in Him, not my works. Wishing you well, Disciplerami |
