Subject: How Does Baptism Save? |
Bible Note: Hi sniper, the “You see” is for our benefit not God’s; he knows if a person has the proper faith, we don’t know unless we see something that exhibits the fact. From your post it sounds like you are putting a lot of emphasis on baptism. Which came first complete trust in Jesus work, as payment for our sin, or the baptism, and what happens if the person drops over dead before they had a chance to be baptized after they believe? Don’t get the cart before the horse, notice the prerequisite for baptism. Acts 8:36 B See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Another way to put it is, is there any reason why I shouldn’t be baptized. The next verse shows what must precede baptism. Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The eunuch came up with the right answer so Philip baptized him. A lot of people are trusting in their baptism with water to help save them and Jesus doesn’t like to share the praise with someone’s assumptions. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
