Subject: How Does Baptism Save? |
Bible Note: Thanks for the encouragement, CDBJ! I liked the way you put it. I tried for 4 years before I knew Christ to become "perfect" and try my best to "buy God's love" by being baptized, trying to live the right way, etc... But, I always found myself failing left and right. It was not until I realized that it is the grace of God that teaches us holiness in Titus.... Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, (12) teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age When I discovered the grace of God that teaches, an amazing thing happened...I actually started to be taught! It was so awesome! I remember someone told me that if I would stop trying to live to "perfect" I'll then know what it's like to actually live the life God wants me to live. So, I laid my life at His feet and gave it up. And I am so glad that I did. I'm not against baptism, I hope people don't think I am. I believe baptism is like marriage...a testimony of one's love to the Savior and obedience to His Word...but it does not save anyone from hell, for it is written... Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. It is written again.... Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit Now, I can truly sing the song, "Amazing Grace" and understand it. Again....thanks for the post and your encouragment. In Christ, SRP |
