NASB | 1 Peter 2:24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 2:24 He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed. |
Subject: Sickness Brings God Glory? |
Bible Note: God's day to you, atdcross, In John 5:1-8, do you think the man He healed was the only one at the pool? I think so, therefore it was not His will to heal all ... not did He heal all when He was on earth. He also healed when there was personal contact. 1 Corinthians 11:28-30 tells us if we patake of the Lord's Supper the wrong way we could get sick or die. I am not saying that all sickness is the result of sin ... look at Job (Job 1-2). God did promise disease to Israel (Deu 28:21-22,27) if they did not obey (vs 15). Timothy was sick (1 Tim 5:23) as well as Trophimus (2 Tim 4:20), as well as Paul (2 Cor 12:7-10; Gal 4:13-15). Reading this post ... Ephesians 5:20 ... always and everything is absolute. Job did this (Job 1:21). WHEN believers get sick, is it not God's will, even if we are following Him? Psalm 103:3 ... all it says is He is the one who heals, as well as other things 3 John 2 ... this is John's prayer Malachi 4:2 ... the context is in the future Matthew 7:11 ... is about God giving good gifts, no mention of healing.
