Bible Question:
What if you know you are in a church that is spiritually abusing you. Using fear to keep members to stay. By saying you will be cursed if you leave. Where no one has a say as to how the money is spent. If you question anything they say you are in rebellion. What do you do? |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, 1worker, and welcome to the SBF, First, we, including I, don't know the whole story. Moreover, most of us don't give advice. Second, have you asked God for wisdom (James 1:5 ... read the context)? It is important to do so before you ask anyone. Then, I suggest you seek wise Christian counsel. Usually, I'd say go to your pastor. But, that may be difficult. Seek someone you trust. This person also must seek His wisdom ... a quick answer may not be wise. Acts 17:11 says the Bereans chekced out the Bible (then only the OT) to see if what was said was so. In Acts 15, Paul challanged the leadership about how the Gentiles should act ... he also challanged Peter about being two faced. But, use tact and pray before who ask questions. I was in an elder ruled church, where we didn't decide the budget or much else. That was fine. I noramlly attend a congregration rule church where we decide (fight about) how moneu is spent and other things. Let God give you the wisdom to decisde if you should move or not ... as well as all other things. Searcher |
